2205 / S32205 is one of the most widely used duplex grades, while 2507 / S32750 provides higher corrosion resistance and mechanical strength for more aggressive environments.

Duplex stainless steel generally offers substantially higher yield strength than common 304/316 austenitic stainless steels, allowing potential material and weight reduction in suitable designs.
Good resistance to general corrosion, pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, particularly in chloride-containing environments.
Duplex grades are especially valued for their resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) compared with conventional austenitic stainless steels.
Modern duplex grades offer good weldability when the appropriate welding procedure and heat input are controlled.
