The global stainless steel market is changing.

Between 2024 and 2026, China has remained one of the world’s most important stainless steel supply bases, but the export market is becoming increasingly selective. According to industry and customs data, China exported approximately 5.03 million tons of stainless steel in 2025, broadly stable compared with 2024. At the same time, China's stainless steel imports fell significantly, resulting in net exports of approximately 3.51 million tons.

In H1 2026, China's stainless steel exports reached approximately 2.06 million tons, down around 17.6% year-on-year. However, June exports rebounded to approximately 446,000 tons, up 14.4% year-on-year, indicating stronger shipment activity toward selected overseas markets.

The market is therefore not simply shrinking.

It is rotating.

India has become one of the most interesting growth markets in 2026. China's stainless steel exports to India reached approximately 178,000 tons in H1 2026, more than doubling year-on-year.
